Safety Reminders and Resources

Stay Informed, Plan Ahead

  • Continue to monitor the National Weather Service for updated weather forecasts.
  • There may be power outages for several more days. Continue to check with your power provider for the most updated information.
  • Remember to check on friends, family, and neighbors. Offer assistance as you are able.

If you have power outage:

Water Safety

Downed Power Lines

  • Do not try to touch or drive over downed power lines.
  • Do not go near downed or damaged utility lines. Always assume they are live power lines.
    • Central Lincoln PUD: org or call 877.265.3211
    • Pacific Power: Call 877-508-5088
    • Consumer Power: 541-929-3124 or 800-872-9036

Continue to be aware and cautious:

  • Make smart and safe decisions.
  • Continue to watch for ice on sidewalks, streets, driveways. Pay extra attention to decks and bridges as they freeze easier.
  • Be aware of falling branches, ice, and other debris, especially under trees, near buildings/roofs, under powerlines, etc.
  • Many roads have been cleared, but some may still be icy and debris may continue to fall or become hazardous.
  • Use caution and avoid unnecessary risks.
  • Be aware of conditions and avoid traveling unless necessary. Many roads are impacted by weather and debris.
  • Do not try to access roads that are closed or blocked. This puts additional strain on first responders and crews working to clear the roads. This puts yourself, first responders, and work crews at risk. This can delay work on the road and may mean first responders won’t be able to reach you.
  • Be wary of disaster-related scams. Continue to use caution and verify you are working with official organizations and/or representatives before providing sensitive or payment information.

How to help:

  • Check on neighbors and offer assistance as you are able. Neighbors may need a ride to shelters or hotels with power, supplies, or other help that you can offer. If there is still concern for someone’s welfare, call the non-emergency dispatch line at 541-265-0777
  • Make arrangements ahead of time. If you are without power and able to stay with friends, family, or at a hotel with power, that is the best option for sheltering during this event. Some sheltering options may be available. See the resources on the other side of this page for information on available resources.
  • Reach out to neighbors and community resources for transportation, sheltering, and non-emergency support.
  • Share this information handout to help connect others with information sources and some key tips to keep in mind.
