Lincoln County Hands Across the Bridge National Recovery and Wellbriety Month Sept. 16

Newport, Ore. — This September marks the 34th anniversary of National Recovery month. Each year Lincoln County comes together for a month-long awareness and celebration of mental health and substance use challenges. In recognition of National Recovery and Wellbriety Month, all community members are invited to join at the 15th annual “Hands Across the Bridge” in Waldport, Oregon at noon on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Recovery and Wellbriety Month promotes the benefits of treatment for substance use and mental health issues, celebrates people in recovery, praises the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery-Wellbriety Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover. No matter where you are, no matter who you are, no one is alone in recovery. The recovery journey isn’t just for the person with the substance use or mental health issue—it includes everyone who cares about them.

Lincoln County Hands across the bridge is a free public event that begins with gathering at 11:30 am at the parking lot of the Waldport Heritage Museum, 320 NW Hwy 101, Waldport, OR 97394. The bridge crossing will begin with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians drummer at 12:00 noon, then all will join together for a free BBQ lunch, speakers, and family friendly activities at 12:30 pm at the Waldport Community Center.

Community members can find link to the online event on the Lincoln County Public Health Facebook page.
