Lisa Field - Animal Care Specialist

Lisa Field

Lisa grew up in a rural setting in northern California where she raised chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, rabbits, a pig and a goat. Her family raised a barn owl from a ball of fluff and rehabilitated an injured fox, both of whom were successfully released back into the environment. Lisa worked in Katmai National park in Alaska for many years as a maintenance person, cook and lodge Manager in several fly in fishing lodges. There she met her her husband. Later, they raised many types of reptiles and amphibians. Lisa previously volunteered at the Anchorage Alaska Municipal Animal Shelter as a dog walker and raised English Bull terriers for 23 years (Lulu for 10 and Kimo for 13).

Lisa started work at the shelter in August of 2008. She acquired her Dog Obedience Instructor diploma and Shelter Dog Trainer certification through the Animal Behavior College. She enjoys continuing her education by attending seminars on animal behavior and looks forward to applying new techniques and enrichment for sheltered animals.

She currently has one rescued dog, a cat, a cockatiel and about 25 outdoor koi and goldfish who keep her busy at home. In her spare time, she enjoys surfing with her family, motorcycling, rock hunting, and gardening.
